Next, we need two actions to support the password reset functionality: one to request the reset code to e-mail, and one to do the actual resetting. We ll call them forgot_password and reset_password. When the form is submitted to the same action, it will fetch the user with the given e-mail address from the database. Then the action calls the forgot_password method for the @user object to generate the reset code. Finally, it saves the object, thus triggering the after_save call in UserObserver and causing the e-mail message with the reset URL to be sent. If everything goes smoothly, the action redirects the user back to where he started the new password request. Otherwise, we ll redisplay the form with an error message.

A customer s checkout process begins with their cart and making any last minute adjustments before checking out. It s important to keep in mind that if customers do not have javascript enabled they will not be able to add products to their cart or begin the checkout process. Magento has done an amazing job at condensing and streamlining the checkout process into a single page. From a technical standpoint, Magento uses Ajax to reduce page transitions and save bandwidth by keeping the checkout process to one page. Customers can review their checkout information during the checkout process without having to visit another page (see Figure 3-13).

After the first statement (1), the contents of the __init__ module in drawing would be available; the drawing and colors modules, however, would not be. After the second statement (2), the colors module would be available, but only under its full name, drawing.colors. After the third statement (3), the shapes module would be available, under its short name (that is, simply shapes). Note that these statements are just examples. There is no need, for example, to import the package itself before importing one of its modules as I have done here. The second statement could very well be executed on its own, as could the third. You may nest packages inside each other.

reset_password is the action where George lands when following the link in the e-mail message. It gets the user object by the reset code part of the URL. If the user isn t found, a simple 404 Not Found page is shown. Otherwise, the action shows a form where George can give and confirm a new password. We use postback here as well, meaning that the form is posted to the same reset_password action. When the action is run from a POST request, we update the password, set the reset code to nil calling the reset_password method for @user, and finally redirect the browser back to wherever George happened to be before trying to log in.
